Chelmsford is a historic market town and the principal settlement of the City of Chelmsford district, in Essex, England. It is located in the London commuter belt, approximately east northeast of Charing Cross in London and from Colchester on the A12 road. The urban area around the city has a population of approximately 120,000, whilst legend holds it to be an old Roman settlement where Boudica fought against occupying Romans.
